This workshop introduces teachers to the Building Thinking Classrooms framework developed by Peter Liljedahl. Participants will explore research-based practices that foster student engagement, critical thinking, and problem solving in mathematics classrooms. Through guided modules, teachers will learn how to shift from teacher-directed instruction to student centered learning environments where thinking is visible, collaborative, and sustained.

Whether in written or spoken form, vocabulary is the heartbeat of communication! In fact, it is widely accepted in educational communities as the ‘gateway to comprehension’.

This professional learning course is designed to help primary school educators explore the importance of explicit and contextual vocabulary instruction in developing their students’ vocabulary skills. It guides participants through the process of selecting meaningful words for targeted instruction and delivering impactful lessons. 

Since knowing a word’s definition is only the beginning of understanding it, the course offers various practical instructional techniques to improve students’ word knowledge and usage. Participants will also examine a Basic Daily Routine Framework for Vocabulary Instruction—a structured, research-based, and engaging approach that promotes deeper vocabulary learning in the classroom.
